Has anyone used this proxy server? Is it easy to configure? The /etc/squid/conf file is about 50 pages long. Do I need to edit the whole thing? Anyone have any experience with this?? Salut Aristotle,
ome months ago, I installed it and (without being at all an EXPERT! :)) I
can tell you that there are not many things to do. The only problem I
found was the configuration of ACLs (access control lists). If you are not
concerned about security it works almost inmediately. If you want to build
up a good thing, you will have to retouch a little the conf file, but it
is not very complicated.
you can try http://squid.nlanr.net/Squid/ too!

TIA, I may be wrong, but I believe squid is actually a cache server. I mean, it is a proxy that does more than just act as a proxy. It keeps pages in cache, so it is faster for people in your network to access certain popular sites. However, I never installed it myself. Just providing some info (I hope it is correct), just in case. Nitebirdz On Fri, 29 Oct 1999, Aristotle Zoulas wrote:

Anyone have any experience with this??
