HI All,,,
I was given a digital 245mb HD. I can only get it to work as the slave unit. I would like to use it as the master. On the bottom is three jumpers sp ds cs. When all three are open then it will work as ths slave unit. I tryed jumping each single and it would not work at all. Can anyone tell me how to set the jumpers as master?
TIA!

For cable select you need a special cable, sort of like the floppy-cable. Greets, Erland. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

If you look at a CS cable you will find that one "branch" of it has a hole in one wire (#28). That goes to the drive you want to set as Slave. The other end goes to the Master. Set the jumpers for Cable Select on *both* drives. The middle connector is the one that goes onto the IDE bus connector, and each end goes to a drive. I have an old quantum HD with the three jumpers labeled as you mentioned and I think that if you want to set it as master you have to put a jumper on the ds. I use a bunch of old drives like that on my systems and it seems that it is standard to jumper ds for master and no jumper for slave. I have three drives that are 1gig or less, they are all set up the same way. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
