Yes, I know just what you mean. Using SUSE 9.0 Pro, I found Kwrite in /opt/kde3/bin/kwrite. I added it to the kicker panel using the "add non-KDE apps" function which lets you browse to the program. I think it is because the "official" simple text editor is now Kate, which is nice, but I find the way it handles wrapping and spaces irritating and inconsistent. It may be because I'm not using it right, but for quick little notes and things I just want the simplest text editor with word wrap. Kwrite, in other words.
