[opensuse] firefox blocks google
Hello, since some days, most of the google links gives only a blank page in firefox. like this one http://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=CUUqC93vCVKCCOa6V0wW87oH... I have to remove the google part (if possible) to access the web page. This may be related (or not) from the fact that I installed addblock and addblock plus. But since I removed these two apps with no change. any idea? thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

This is probably the cause since Ghostery also blocks the redirection - you could disable them temporarily to find out, of course...
But since I removed these two apps with no change.
any idea? thanks jdd

but I first disabled them and after that completely removed them. Is there an other way to stop them completely? (of course the computer have been restarted several times since then) last test: it may be a firefox or google problem, it it the same with completely new profile :-( jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

What if you were to use something like Firebug to watch and see what comes up? This is what I see when I search for that same string via the browser bar in Firefox 34: http://susepaste.org/88821964 Also, I'm running Adblock Plus 2.6.7 and don't have a problem like this. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

did you search for "appareil photo reflex"? At home this problem is reproductible with any browser, clicking on the nikon link do not give anything usable. but if one look at the text chain, it can't see any nikon reference. Looks like the chain is too long and truncated (usually one find the target at the end) in fact looks like I have this same behavior for all the paid (advertised) link, on top of the search windows! jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
Yup yup, that's what I searched for; when I click on the Google Ad links, they seem to come through without a problem. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I found the problem. It was a setup on my "freebox", the dsl router. It have a beta option to filter out advertisements. I never used it and never planned to use it, but either by my mistake or a different default in the last box update is was opted on. I had just to opt it out in the box setup and all is nice sorry for the disturbance :-( thanks all jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
I do something like this at home, intentionally :) On my local bind servers, I used info from http://prefetch.net/blog/index.php/2006/05/27/using-bind-to-reduce-ad-server... and http://pgl.yoyo.org/adservers/serverlist.php?hostformat=bindconfig to create the bind zone config file for each domain. All of those domains all point to this zone file: $TTL 86400 ; one day @ IN SOA xxxxx.xxxx.xxx. root.xxxxx.xxxx.xxx. ( 2014120401 ; serial number YYMMDDNN 28800 ; refresh 8 hours 7200 ; retry 2 hours 864000 ; expire 10 days 86400 ) ; min ttl 1 day NS xxxxx.xxxx.xxx. NS xxxxx.xxxx.xxx. A 192.168.1.2 * IN A 192.168.1.2 Apache on 192.168.1.2 only has one file in it, an index file that contains a dot. However, it has an .htaccess file that is configured to catch anything and everything, and redirect it to root: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] </IfModule> So, basically, any domain contained in those ad files redirects to a local webserver that grabs any URL passed to it, and essentially returns nothing, so we get essentially no ads whatsoever, no matter what device is accessing our network. I love it :D -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Obviously a useful option, that. Do you have the 'Crystal' or the 'Révolution' box? Peter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
I found the problem. It was a setup on my "freebox", the dsl router. and I just noticed I was not the only one impacted.
