Hi, I have one problem that it is very serious to me. I can't get 3D hardware acceleration anymore after installing SuSE 8.0pro. With SuSE 7.3 and the updated xfree 4.2.0 i had no problem... but now when starting X i get the following error. (II) LoadModule: "glx" (II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/glx.so (EE) LoadModule: Module glx does not have a glxModuleData data object. (II) UnloadModule: "glx" (II) Unloading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/glx.so (EE) Failed to load module "glx" (invalid module, 0) I have an ATI AIW rage 128 on a pentium3 @450 and 640MB ram. I used to have 3D accelleration since xfree 4.0.1. And now I have this stupid error. I really need 3D acc not because of games but because i'm developing an application in OpenGL. PLZ help somebody... any tip... something... PS: if you need some more information let me know Well thanx in advance and sorry for boring you... Knightmare

(snip) ------------------------------ Hello, It seems that SuSE failed to, forgot to or just left out the DRI files needed to get 3D operational in 8.0 I believe. Someone from SuSE here can elaborate on this I am sure. If you have the 7.3 XFree86 rpms and DRI rpms, I believe you can use those to regain your 7.3 like settings in 8.0? Someone correct me if I am mistaken here. If you don't have the latest, they are available on the ftp site for download. I believe -64 was the last build and are some of the same ones included in 8.0 too. No as far as I can tell you are right as I had the same problem with Matrox cards which are normally supported out of box under Linux and for the first time I had problem with Matrox. using the earlier xf86_glx rpm did solve the problem. -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx

You should find all your X files at this location: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/X/XFree86/XFree86-4.2.0-SuSE This should get you back on the road again to 3D heaven! ;o) Patrick -- --- KMail v1.4 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.0 --- Registered Linux User #225206 Magic Page Products -- Amiga-SuSE-PC Sales & Service URL: http://home.sprintmail.com/~tracerb
