Unreal Tournament Permission Problem???
I am trying to run the game Unreal Tournament as a regular user but am having problems. I can run successfully as root though. When I try and run as a regular user I get the following error messages in the startup xterm: <snip> Initializing Glide... gd error (glide): Permission denied Couldn't change I/O priveledge level. <snip> Where would I go to fix this???? Gerry
Honestly, I don't really know :] Check the unrealtournament.ini files in your ~/root/.loki/ut folder and that in ~/regularuser/.loki... folder. If you're running the new Xfree, you should use OpenGL rendering instead of Glide, which you're trying to use and fail... ... I guess changing from Glide to OpenGL would help... remember to do it in your "regularuser" or whatever it is directory, not in the root's :-). Try runing "3Ddiag" it that doesn't work and follow the rules. I hope I helped you! Yours, Ziga Dolhar On Friday 01 June 2001 15:04, Gerry Doris wrote:

In the README is talks about getting the glide drivers to work. Also, go to www.lokigames.com and look at the FAQ - that might help. In either case you'll probably have to do some edits to the UnrealTournament.ini file. As far as permission you'll have to either/or give permissions to the ut dir and files and/or the glide drives. One thing, when you installed, if you did so from the console in the user acct using "su" you might want to try again using "sux". This seems to make a difference in user accts where the X-server is involved. Something to do with root to user permissions in X when in the users acct. Cheers and lets us know how it goes.
