VirtualBox crashes gnome-shell on TW
Hi, I have two machines running TW. One is running with Xfce and I don't see a single issue with VirtualBox. But the other machine is a pretty new one (Lenovo X1) running Gnome and VirtualBox is pretty much unusable there. When I try to run a Windows VM it crashes. When I try to install the vbox-extensions it crashes. And when I say "it" according to logs it mainly is gnome-shell which is crashing. WR> Anyone else who has seen something like this? The error message is not related to VirtualBox, your problem is with VirtualBox itself. On my TW, since VirtualBox 7.0.6, when I try to boot Windows 10 from VirtualBox, the following message is displayed and it is unusable. he virtual machine 'Windows 10 Professional' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1). Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAIL NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0X80004005) Component: MachineWrap MachineWrap Interface: MachineWrap IMachine {300763af-5d6b-46e6-aa96-273eac15538a} The same is true for VirtualBox 7.0.8, but I have no idea why. In my case, I solved the problem with VirtulaBox 7.0.7 (now 7.0.9), which can be obtained at; https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Testbuilds#development_snapshots Regards. --- ┏━━┓彡 野宮 賢 mail-to: nomiya @ lake.dti.ne.jp ┃\/彡 ┗━━┛ "A bachelor’s degree still holds prestige as a ticket to the middle class, but its value has received increasing scrutiny. VirtualBox is just a black window from then on as well.
Anyone else who has seen something like this?
I installed the extesions via commandline now but VirtualBox still crashed with a hint to a kernel BUG (I've opened a issue in bugzilla for it). After booting with ibt=off I'm now able to use my Windows 10 VM (and others) again. Wolfgang
