[opensuse] Cinelerra for 12.3
Anyone using Cinelerra and has found a copy which will install in 12.3? If so could you let me know the URL, please. Or if you know what is happening with such a version then please also let me know. I need Cinelerra :-( . It should be on Packman repos as usual. I did a fast search on the repo contents with no results http://packman.inode.at/suse/12.3/ http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/12.3/ Maybe it will take a little bit more time to build the most recent version. Many thanks for this, Ricardo. The big question is: who is going to do the 'building' to work with the 12.3 version? :-( . I don't know what to think......but if one goes to: http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/packman/luse/ you will find an rpm of Cinelerra for TUMBLEWEED and for FACTORY but none for oS 12.3 :-( . I just installed Cinelerra in Tumbleweed and it installed perfectly - and it appears to work properly. Now, considering that TW was updated to 12.3 only a couple of days ago I think that this TW rpm should also install in 12.3. Which I will try and do after I have had some sleep. No idea who. There is a #packman channel on irc.freenode.org Most probably we can find some help there (weekdays)

I am not using Tumbleweed or Factory right now. Neither plans to use them soon on short future.

I found this http://packman.links2linux.org/package/cinelerra/370296 not openSUSE 12.3 specific but 1-Click Apper installable. Because Apper and YaST are able to handle dependencies make sense try it out. I did not try it though. I have no time to handle unpredictable conditions right now. Maybe Monday night. If everything goes right I will back with feedback. I tried that one a few days ago - nothing doing: comes up with the statement that the script does not contain instructions on how to install it in 12.3. Just a small note to notify: Cinelerrra and Miro are now built on Packman Repo again. Several hours ago were pushed into and populated. Details Information for package cinelerra: Repository: Packman Repository Name: cinelerra Version: 2.2cv20111114-13.1 Arch: x86_64 Vendor: http://packman.links2linux.de Installed: No Status: not installed Installed Size: 24.2 MiB Summary: A non linear video editor and effects processor I would say this issue is already solved. Thanks. It did last night in TW but I will be trying it in 12.3 a bit later today. BC -- Using openSUSE 12.3 x86_64 with KDE 4.10.1 & kernel 3.8.3-1 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Regrettably and unforunately, NO :-( . It complains about dependency failures, one dealing with libHalf.so.60 not being available - which is rubbish because Tumbleweed has libHalf7 and not v6 installed and yet Cinelerra installs; and the other is that libpng14-4 is not installed - which it isn't....and I cannot get a copy of it (it's on libpng.org but only as a source .txz file :-( ). libpng14-4 *is* installed in Tumbleweed - obviously a left-over from its 12.2 origins - which is why Cinelerra gets installed in TW. So, I am stuck :'( . Compiling Cinelerra in 12.3 fails because "libasound headers >=1.0.2 are not present" - which is yet another piece of rubbish because alsa-1.0.25-3.5.1 is installed in 12.2, 12.3 and TW. (I can no see why the author of k9copy gave up writing the program for Linux - too many dependency crappolas at every turn :-( .) I realised this just as I pressed the SEND button: I should be able to get libpng14-4 from the 12.2 repo (or even from the 12.2 installation DVD) :-) . I just finished downloading libpng14 (64- and 32-bit versions and including the *.devel files just in case) from the 12.2 repo. Now to see if the effort was worth it. (I bet I'll get more dependency errors :-( .)
