[opensuse] kde widget bar size
Anyone know which .kde4 config file controls the size of the kde bar at the bottom of the screen ? My computer locked up coming out of suspend mode, and ever since the kde bar (plasma?) is only 3/4's of the screen width. There's also two half-moon widgets in the upper right corner. I've seen as many as four widgets there ... R. -- Rich Coe rcoe@wi.rr.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

R.
The task bar/kicker panel and now "Plasma Panel" height is controlled by right-clicking it and choosing "Panel Options" -> "Panel Settings" and then look in the middle of the black bar for "Height". Grab where it says "Height" and then you can move it up or down. (Personally, I preferred the simple number box where you input a pixel value...) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. i believe.this value is stored in ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc to edit it directly you'll have to first stop the plasma-desktop by typing "kquitapp plasma-desktop" in a terminal. then you can open the above file for editing. in the same terminal, type "kwrite ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc", and figure out which of the "containments" is your bottom menu bar. (good luck; hint: the one that contains system tray & pager, normally). in that containment's configuration, you find values for max- and min-size.

if you didn't put too much effort into configuring your desktop, it may be a good idea to start with a fresh (default) configuration. first stop plasma-desktop by typing "kquitapp plasma-desktop" in a terminal. then back up your plasma config. somewhere: mkdir ~/<your-backup-location> cp ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma* ~/<your-backup-location> delete the present config.: rm ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma* now restart plasma-desktop with "plasma-desktop & disown" -- phani. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

first stop plasma-desktop by typing "kquitapp plasma-desktop" in a terminal. then back up your plasma config. somewhere:
mkdir ~/<your-backup-location> cp ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma* ~/<your-backup-location>
delete the present config.: rm ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma*
now restart plasma-desktop with "plasma-desktop & disown"
Thanks phani. Everything worked great once I replaced 'plasma-desktop' with 'plasma' in your example. Rich -- Rich Coe rcoe@wi.rr.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

If you unlock the the desktop you will see the same icon on the right of the panel, if you open it you can click on the panel's settings and get a list that includes something like "maximise panel" [horizontally].
