[SLE] SPAM filter question
I'm using fetchmail/sendmail to retrieve and process my mail and I would just like to get a better understanding SuSE's SPAM filters. Mostly because a few folks on the list seem to not be sending from valid hosts. Now, that's ok for the true spammers but if one can submit to the list then that tells me they are not a spammer. However, the SuSE spam filters on my machine do reject messages from the list if the domain in the Sender field does not exist. My question is whether the list software can be changed to say the sender is the SuSE list so the messages will get through the filters and what are the benefits/liabilities of doing this (I think this makes it easier to reply to the list instead of the originator). Or is there a way to modify the filter so I could let any messages through that are Received: from lists.suse.com even though the Sender's domain does not exist? Where would I start if I wanted to do this??? I'd really like to get these messages without resorting to a POP3 client and/or getting rid of the filter. Below is an example with irrelevant lines deleted and names changed to protect the innocent :-) (I'd to hate label any contributors to the list as spammers like the filter is doing): Our spam filter rejected this transaction.
