You is a memory hog! I have 128 meg of RAM and a 128 swap. All other applications on the desktop were shut down. I solved the mistery crashes during YOU. Last night I also ran top while doing the update and watched my free swap space drop the zero and the thrashing begin. In order the regain control of the machine I rebooted. To solve the problem I created a swap file dd if=/dev/zero of=extra-swap bs=1024 count=512000 mkswap extra-swap /sbin/swapon extra-swap I noticed that there was a patch for you-5, so the memory trouble may be fixed now? Is there a method for turning the swap file off when I finish runnng you? I know about swapoff, but the file is still in use.
