Hi, In KDE you can choose the default application for each file ending via the properties dialog you get when right-clicking on the file. Regards, Matthias Am Montag, 17. Dezember 2012, 23:43:32 schrieb Duaine Hechler:

The config is incorrect. You have the same default app (Kwrite) for both .txt and .bat. You need two configurations. To have .bat opened by default in DOSBox, in Configure File Associations click on Add (left/center bottom) and create a new config for just .bat and DOSBox, while removing .bat from the text config list. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

To test this, I just opened File Associations, added an entirely new applilcation file type (named test-filetype-bat), added the *.bat filename pattern, and added KPlayer as the only Application in the list; hit Apply and the system config is updated. Then after changing a .jpg file to have a .bat extension, the context menu for that file now offers to Open with Kplayer and if clicked on, Kplayer starts. Kplayer attempts (and fails) to open the .bat file due to wrong file type of course, but this illustrates how to set up what you want. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, however, I hardly ever send attached files, in which case, I will probably never remember to send it to the other place (which I already have forgotten where that is) Cheers, Duaine -- Duaine Hechler Piano, Player Piano, Pump Organ - Tuning, Servicing & Rebuilding (314) 838-5587 / dahechler@att.net / www.hechlerpianoandorgan.com Home & Business user of Linux - 12 years -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Couldn't the list software automagically remove attachments, put them on the server and substitute a link? Dylan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

A 152K jpeg file. It's insignificant for some, very significant for others. That one file is the same as 76 2k emails. Some people are downloading via slow expensive links, not just dialup users on the sides of mountains in 3rd world countries, cell phones are hardly any better on the best devices in the most modern countries sometimes. Some people have limited available space in their mailboxes or again on cell phones. Also consider how one email multiplies on the mail list server and the various mail servers when it went out to a list of hundreds or thousands. Aside from how much that one file cost that one time, which could still be considered not too major in the grand scheme, now consider what if everyone was doing the same thing all the time. The difference between a 2k email and a 154k email is just under 8000%. That means that much more of everything, hd space, bandwith, cpu and ram for spam/virus scanning, etc. It would probably matter to you too if everyone else was doing the same thing and your own email download became that much larger, or if Novell decided mail list servers and bandwidth were too expensive to keep doing for free. It doesn't matter who you are or what the situation is, an 8000% increase in resource usage matters. -- bkw
