Linux ADSL petition for UK drivers - please sign & show support
Home users of ADSL in this country are being forced to use Microsoft Windows to connect to the Internet as no drivers have as yet been released for anything else. BT's terms and conditions prevent us from changing the modems supplied, and the device in question is the Alcatel Speedtouch USB modem. Linux : Alcatel have written the drivers for this for Linux, but will not authorise the release. Macintosh : Alcatel have supplied BT with the drivers, these have been with BT since Christmas. A March release is planned. UK Linux users have started on an online petition to persuade Alcatel to release these drivers. Alcatel are not convinced that there is a 'need' for these drivers. Ascertained from their comments on IRC meetings with users. The relevant press release information is to be found at http://www.linuxdude.co.uk/pr/adsl including over 300 'signatures' in 3 days. and the details of the Linux driver and author http://kapu.name.daemon.xs4all.be:8080/Projects/speedtouch.php3 Thanking you for your time dids
