Does anybody know about decent mp3 to wav converter. I already got cdparanoia but can't make it work with files on HD, it always touches cdrom. Is there a way to fool it to think HD is cdrom? Try using xmms, and select the diskwriter output plugin. It gives excellent quality and is really fast. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. mpg123, mpg321, madplay... Take your pick. Please refer to their respective manpages to see how to output to a wav file. Charles -- "...Unix, MS-DOS, and Windows NT (also known as the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)." (By Matt Welsh)

Why not very simply use 'Audacity' and import your mp3; then export wav. On Tue, 2003-12-23 at 07:40, Charles Philip Chan wrote:

This is fine for a couple of files. However, the commandline programs are much better for batch processing. Charles -- "I once witnessed a long-winded, month-long flamewar over the use of mice vs. trackballs...It was very silly." (By Matt Welsh)

The programs you will be looking for would be mpg123, or XMMS with the diskwriter output plugin. If you check mpg123s man pages you should be able to work out which switches to use.

you could try audacity, it's in the Suse distro since 8.x IIRC ( I know it was in 8.1 and .2 but do not remember if it was in the 8.0 version. It *is* a graphical item tho, rather than commandline... I've tried audacity and am very favorably impressed with its editing capabilities and interface. Paul Abrahams

If what you want to do is burn mp3's onto a CD audio, the easiest thing by far is to use k3b, which will automagically convert your mp3's to wav and burn them in one operation.
