NAME hdparm - get/set hard disk parameters SYNOPSIS hdparm [ flags ] [device] .. [..] -E Set cdrom speed. This is NOT necessary for regular opera- tion, as the drive will automatically switch speeds on its own. But if you want to play with it, just supply a speed number after the option, usually a number like 2 or 4. Theo -- Theo v. Thanks, but hdparm does not work on (this?) dvd-rom. I've tried different speeds, like -E 1, 2, 4, 10, 16. None of these worked. I wanted to mention this in the original post but I forgot it. My dvd-rom spins very fast and 'makes noise like a hoover'. Other options? IG ________________________________________________________________________________ INTERNETES NYELVTANULÁS!
