[SuSE Linux] CD Underrun error?
I'm setting up a 486 with suse5.3. The computer has an ide 2x cd. I boot with the disk created with setup and linuxrc starts up. When I chose the cd as the install source, the drive was accessed, but i then got a message saying that the cd couldn't be mounted. I checked the kernel messages and found that both the hard disk and the cd were detected, but the last message was an ATAPI CD-ROM underrun error (or something to that effect). - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

Not sure if this will help you but when youre booting up and get to the first dialog box where its says something like load modules or automatically load modules see if choosing automatically loading modules works or if not try and manually load the modules by the pulldown menu there rob - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

First or second EIDE controller? Is it jumpered correctly? Do you use a overlong cable?
Additionally, the _exact_ error message could be helpful. -o) Hubert Mantel Goodbye, dots... /\\ _\_v - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
