Goto runlevel 3 (or restart in Safe Mode) Then run : nvidia-installer --uninstall cd /usr/src/linux make cloneconfig && make dep cd /your download directory containing the driver sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run
If you didn't, please retry one more time. I agree that that you shouldn't go back to older versions. Cheers,
Well I did everything except the part of going to /usr/src/linux and doing the make cloneconfig && make dep. I will try it exaclty the way you propose but first I would like to know, if you have the info, what Im doing with the make cloneconfig... step. Thanks a lot. Felipe.

Felipe.
"make cloneconfig" configures the kernal source to exactly match the running system. This would allow you to generate an identical kernel to the one that you are running. Or at least give you a good starting point for a new build. This is handy when you are working on the kernel source and make a major mistake, you can install fresh source and then clone your config to start over. Or in this case, you can make the source match the binary supplied by SuSE. -- Kelly L. Fulks Home Account near Huntsville, AL

Ehhh, I must admit that I don't really know. But, I've done it several times - trusting the documented instructions - , and it never harmed my system. ;-) On the contrary, I ended up with a good working Nvidia driver (the 4363), where the 4496 failed me.
