Hello fellow susers, I did a clean install of suse 8.1 and then proceeded to update kde to 3.1 version. Unfortunately konqueror crashes as sson as I try to look at a folder. All packages have been upgraded to kde 3.1 speck, i have uninstalled teh konqueror 3.04 (since it clashed with kde3.1 base according to synaptic) and used the kde3addons3-konqueror instead. Everythinh else appears normal and I can boot into kde 3.1 just fine..I would appreciate any suggetsions -help Regards, Josef

You'll need to remove the ~/.kde folder from your / all users home dirs. Back them up just in case. Also remove any ~/.mcop folders from home dirs. Back up these as well. You also need to delete from tmp, all the mcop-user files. You should be good to go. I think there was something about upgrading alsa or arts as well, check the archives about that one. Someone said they were related but i didn't keep a copy of that thread, I'm still not sure if they are or not just thought I'd mention it. -- Franklin Maurer nebbish@sprynet.com Using SuSE 8.1

Hi Josef The tip Franklin gave you is a good one. However if that do not work you can try the process i did when I had a crash like you had. Here is the link to the posting I made : http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-kde/2003-Feb/0025.html HTH The priceless of all Treasures stick within you.
