Hi I have networked a 486 to a pentium, On both computers windows 95 and on the pentium is dual boot to linux windows to windows network ok but can not see network on windows to linux, like if you click onto "network neighbourhood" from the desk top when I have dual booted to windows and both computers are going I can see 3 object(s) entire network, and the two computers I can "ping" OK between windows and linux also not too sure what the equivalent program to windows "network neighbourhood" is in linux or windows "workgroup" I think I made it linux "domain name"

Thanks jokes For the reply, Sorry I could not work "Samba" even a hard task trying to find it, I find two programs Settings => Information => samba status (you to log on as "root" user) Utilities => Samba setup tool But going through the Suse 6.4 book page Page 403 made changes to /etc/rc.config but I think the break through was with Page 200 made changes to /etc/smb.conf changed workgroup = workgoup to ; workgroup = workgoup workgroup = Erics One mistake I made at first, So when I make changes now is to "rem" them out with a ';' then repeat the line without the ';' otherwise it is hard to see what you have changed if things go bad, or else restore the old file ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eric Richards" <e.richards@clear.net.nz> To: "SuSE Linux (English) General Discussion" <suse-linux-e@suse.com> Sent: Saturday, September 16, 2000 2:39 PM Subject: [SLE] network : Hi : I have networked a 486 to a pentium, : On both computers windows 95 and on the pentium is dual boot to linux : windows to windows network ok : : but can not see network on windows to linux, : : like if you click onto "network neighbourhood" from the desk top when I have : dual booted to windows and both computers are going I can see 3 object(s) : entire network, and the two computers : : I can "ping" OK between windows and linux : : : >From Eric : : : : -- : To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com : For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com : Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq : : -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
