Do do have any experience with EPSON Ink Jet printers ?
I've been buying my EPSON C60 ink cartriges by PrintPall for over a year. They are not EPSON original but they work fine and are much less expensive than EPSON ones. This time I've replaced the black ink cartridge following the usual procedure (at least .. I hope so as I do that automatically) but when I push the button that should cause the printer to start loading the ink then the printer starts moving the head but then stops right away. The ink indicator shows that there is no black ink at all. I've already tried to turn Off/On the printer, unplug/re-plug the USB cable, shut-down and reboot my computer ... and got nowhere ! May the cartridge be defective ? Or I might have touched unadvertently the back circuit which is strongly discouraged ? Can the printer internal cicuit/program be messed up ? I tried to reset the printer by MTINK .. It resets but it still refuses to load the ink .. I've ordeed a new black ink cartridge.....hoping the current one is somehow defective ... Any other suggestion ? Thank you. Maura

To Maura: I have just started using a Epson C62, so I cannot vouch for it as yet. But, I have some experience with a Canon Bubble jet, which is basically the same function. I would say you were correct in ordering a new cartridge of ink. I can vouch for the fact that Epson ink is expensive, as I just bought some for backup when needed. Does the supplier allow you to send back a questionable cartridge to check on?
I threw out an Epson printer after trying to use non-Epson ink. It must have clogged up the print head, and I had no way that I could figure out to clean it. $150 down the drain. I only use an HP color printer now, since the print head is part of the ink cartridge, and if it gets fouled up, you just throw it out and buy another cartridge. It is undoubtedly more expensive in ink carts, but not as expensive as buying a new printer. And you can still try and refill the cart, and then if it clogs, you can still throw it out and buy a new genuine HP cart, and the printer will work fine. --doug At 01:31 02/24/2004 -0500, Maura Edelweiss Monville wrote:
