Hi, I want to know what the 'better' tool is when upgrading SuSE (8.1 Pro). I know from my Debian days that APT is a *great* tool, but is it officially supported by SuSE? Because in that case I don't know what we are doing with YOU. I find YOU somewhat unfriendly, with no progress indication, and in the case of a failure while downloading, you have to start all over... So, which one do you advice?

if you want to try apt, go to http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/ "The Advanced Package Tool for SuSE" Aron -- "For a man to truly understand rejection, he must first be ignored by a cat." No, it isn't.

YOU in SuSE 8.1 needs polishing - its usage is not quite intuitive, progress indicator is missing, ... I expect improvements in 8.2. I prefer to use tools supported by SuSE and if they are not good enough then to push SuSE to improve them. Home user preferences may differ, I use Linux at work. Nevertheless I have to admit I must use fou4s (http://fou4s.gaugusch.at/) instead of YOU on a Pentium 150 MHz PC with SuSE 7.3. YOU is so slow there that the download of updates is always interrupted before it finishes. -- Alexandr.Malusek@imv.liu.se
