3w-9xxx.ko (x86_64, SMP version) is broken in SUSE Linux 10.0
Hi, The 3w-9xxx.ko kernel module (x86_64, SMP version) in SUSE Linux 10.0 seems to be broken. Both the original DVD and the latest update (kernel-smp-2.6.13-15.7) versions are affected. The OS didn't see my 3ware 9550SX SATA II RAID on a dual Opteron machine. The 3w-9xxx.smp module provided by 3ware on their home page (driver-suse-su10-x86_64-9.3.0.3.tgz) fixed the problem. Does the SUSE's module work for anyone? -- A.M.
Hi, I am going to buy that card. Have you tried to force a load of this driver after booting from CD? Is it possible that 3w kernel module in SuSE distro is simply outdated and recognize only older cards? On Tuesday 24 January 2006 18:40, Alexandr Malusek wrote:

Yes, I have. The SUSE's driver loaded OK using "modprobe 3w-9xxx.ko" but the kernel didn't see the RAID. I used "hwinfo --disk" to test it.

It seems so. The kernel-source-2.6.13-15.7 contains version 2.26.02.002. The 3ware version is named 9.3.0.3. I couldn't find the corresponding source code so I just guess that the number to be compared is 3.0.3. -- A.M.
