[SLE] What is "/usr/sbin/nscd" ?
Howdy, In ps -aux I always see about 7 copies of /usr/sbin/nscd running Is that normal? What is it anyway? And if it's not normal what do I do about it :-) JW -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

nscd = name service cache demon. It is a cache for the more common name service requests. Don't know how many should be running, I'd guess it would depend on how your system was set up. Take a look at the manual for nscd to learn more.
