SuSE 9.1 and those damn "balloons"
Anyone know how to get rid of, or at least minimise their display time, the description "balloons" which come up when the cursor is hovered over the set of icons on bottom RH of the taskbar? The "balloon(s)" come up, cover the icon, won't go away for ages, and the icon can't be clicked to activate because the "balloon(s)" is/are covering it/them. (Suse v 7.1 is looking good at this point in time.) Cheers. -- I am not young enough to know everything.
Hi, I've been seeing these on 8.2; but I noticed that by changing some of the size options in the KDE control panel related to the task bar I was able to make the icons on the bar bigger. The 'tool-tip' balloons are now reliatively smaller and therefore avoidable. PeterB On Wednesday 19 May 2004 09:08 am, Basil Chupin wrote:

But doing what you suggest defeats how I want my desktop to look and behave, and the software should do what I want and not me adjusting to what the software decides how things should look. The "balloons" are well behaved in v9.0 therefore they should behave at least as they do in the previous version. Cheers. -- I am not young enough to know everything.

I guess they're trying to keep things familiar for Windows users. ;-)

/snip/ I don't seem to see those problems. The "balloons" don't cover the icons and they go away as soon as I move the cursor. Maybe someone at SuSE can throw some light on your problem. --doug

You can deactivate those tool tips. Configure the panel. Greetings from Bremen hartmut

I have deactivated the tooltips (at every re-install of 9.1 [We are about to go into second digit figures, Houston!])- but the deactivation is rudely ignored and the tips keep tipping. Cheers -- I am not young enough to know everything.
