Annoyances with 7.3
Hi there! There are a couple of small things which bother me. 1- From the very first time I installed 7.3, I get the message linux sshd[13968]: error: Bind to port 22 on 0.0.0.0 failed: Address already in use. I don't know what it means. Should I worry or ignore? 2- Also from the very first time, each time I log in, I get linux logger: Warning: wierd character in interface `ppp*' (No aliases, :, ! or *). I never got this with the previous installations (7.2, 7.1). What should I do? 3- With previous installations, when I clicked on "Shutdown" (kdm), the system went down AND the computer was turned off. Not with 7.3: the computer stays on. Yes, a small thing, just like a little pebble in the shoe... I thought the "halt -p" in /etc/init.d/rc0.d/S20halt and /etc/init.d/halt meant to halt AND poweroff, but that apparently is overridden by some other script. (There's nothing in /etc/init.d/halt.local.) How do I get to have the computer automatically powered off at shutdown? TIA gilson

Can't help with number 3, but here are the answers to 1 and 2: http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/tsaupe_kde_startmsg.html -- ____________________________________________________________________ Robert Paulsen paulsen@texas.net
Number 3: edit /etc/lilo.conf and change 'enableapic' to 'disableapic' on the append line. Run /sbin/lilo afterwards. After the next reboot it should shut down properly. Regards, Tim On Fri, Dec 07, 2001 at 08:23:22AM -0600, Robert C. Paulsen Jr. wrote:
