Please visit http://acehmediacenter.or.id to see the worst part of the world after tsunami. Estimation of death toll is 100,000 and almost every infrastructure in Aceh shoreline was damaged.

Edwin, , I just saw the shots of an island ( Bande Eceh?? Spelling after a brief look is unlikely correct, so bear w/ me) near the epicenter in Sumatra. That island that looks like it was hit by a carpet bomb attack, well except for the water all over what is left of the place... I've seen a lot of so called 3rd world damage after everything except earthquakes, but then I'm formerly a So. Californian so that probably wouldn't bother me too much.<s>
For a while it seemed that every time I was going to be anywhere in the Carribbean that almost guaranteed there would be a huge storm just sit over the island.. This stuff I was just looking at looks more like some Giant trod all over the place just stomping on everthing.. what I saw didn't even have most of the trees, let alone dwellings standing!
Here's another thought, in that whole area there are groups of folks who basically live on boats and work from them... and they are little boats , for the most part.. W/ this kind of damage , I'm guessing they will never know how many died. Or if anyone actually survived.
Your link is interesting ... unfortunately the English stuff didn't show half of what is happening.
Question, I noticed the other day they were talking about clean sheets, or any sheets being unavailable in a lot of hospitals, they were used to wrap the bodies as they were found. Is that on any list somewhere... or that perhaps the (US) Military could supply body bags, and all the movie stars can send enough cash to buy sheets for the hospitals.
What bothers me so much is the emphasis on How many Europeans or Americans died. And lurid tales of people gathering up children to sell to people for the sex trade. All anyone needs to do is look at an over view of any of these places ( a flyover, so to speak) and you can see how much devistation to the infrastructure has happened. And if the buildings don't survive, it's not too likely the people did...
Sorry , I'll stop ranting now... this thing is enormous and will be a disaster that will go on long after the news folks go on to the next big story....
Too bad there isn't some way to have groups of folks gather together to support towns and villiages for oooh five years... Local control over where the money goes as long as it goes directly to the people and their aide...
