*very* good! I wrote it ;-)
second that! Is it still relevant as it is from 2001? How stable is lvm, is it good enough to put /usr /opt and the like on lvm disks?

I've used LVM a lot on test machines that I regularly abuse. I have had to recover my LVM config several times, but I have never lost any data. The LVM config file backups are stored in /etc/lvmconf. Also vgcfgrestore is your friend and it lives in /sbin. So I would just ensure that /etc and /sbin are not on a LVM disk. BTW: LVM1 is deprecated in the 2.5.x kernels, so everyone will have to upgrade to LVM2. I know LVM2 can use LVM1 LVs, but I don't know if a LVM1 LV can be converted to LVM2. Does anybody know?
