I'm sorry for two reasons: 1. I don't understand what you are saying 2. I made a mistake - I posted the original adsl file I got from my friend here but I actually edited 8.35 to 0.32 before running pppd call adsl. Is this mistake what you were point out? Shiriramana, Is this modem incapable of using ethernet? Most broadband modems have dual connections now, USB or ethernet. Ethernet would be your best bet, with fewer problems. If it does not, check with your provider and request an ethernet modem or one with both. Okay this evening I just tried su modprobe pppoatm pppd call adsl and it connected for a *split* second in which I hit a ping www.google.com and went to Konqueror and even fully loaded my homepage at http://samvit.org. Then pffft... SuSE Meta pppd (smpppd-ifcfg), Version 1.58 on linux. The disconnect was at 20:00:51. Just a very brief spell, barely a little more than 90 seconds, during which I was able to execute a ping command, fire up Konqueror and enter http://samvit.org. Then I got disconnected via the error documented in the previous mail.
