What kind of package you want to install? Have you looked what is available at: http://software.opensuse.org/search I did something similar long time ago and it didn't ended fine. I know that at that time I also used root to run programs that otherwise wouldn't start, or will exit with errors, so I really don't know which of 2 mistakes broke SuSE, but in any case I got to reinstall it. It is probably better idea to ask for specific package, so that someone with experience in packaging can build openSUSE version. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

What do you mean? You can always use yast - software - software management, and you can search any package there :-) If you prefer in konsole, you can use "zypper". Just type "man zypper" or just "zypper", you can read a lot of options there. regards, medwinz -- Robert Orben - "Older people shouldn't eat health food, they need all the preservatives they can get." -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Huh? YaST is not a backend, so it doesn't admit a frontend. YaST can be thought as a frontend to others. However, you might have a look at zypper, perhaps that's what you mean.

Shorth answer: No. No rpms from one distro in another distro, unless the rpm is generic. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. OK, in other words screen reader. I'm looking in openSUSE 11.1 RC1 DVD, but I recall installing festival a year or so ago, so it should be provided in older versions. Festival is available in YaST Software Management. Open YaST and click on Software Management. Put in search field 'festival', when it appears in right frame, mark it for installation, and press Accept button. Also you can get it with console tool: zypper in festival You have to be a root. See also http://en.opensuse.org/Accessibility There should be more about this kind of programs. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
