There are certain differences in setting up the firewall. So I used YAST to turn the firewall at boot time yet it seams that the firewall might be turning??? when I establish the PPTP tunnel. At the moment I can connect to VPN but I cannot ping anything and I get network unreachable.

Any suggestions? Has anyone succesfully connected to a VPN?

I use OpenVPN between my notebook and home network. Works fine.

Under 9.1, 9.2 and 9.3 I use the Cisco VPN to connect to work and even get on to my workstation: http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/remote.jpg
