kdelibs3-3.0.4-5 dependencies
I got a strange problem with KDE 3.0.4 update on SuSE Linux 8.0 I usually use fou4s for updating my system, but this time it failed with: error: failed dependencies: qt3 >= 3.0.5 is needed by kdelibs3-3.0.4-5 That's true, because 8.0 comes with qt3-3.0.3-15 and I can't find any updates for qt3. OK, I tried to use YOU and it was succesful installing KDE 3.0.4 update. But, when I run "rpm -q --requires kdelibs3" it returns among other dependencies: qt3 >= 3.0.5 Is it just a mistake in spec file or KDE 3.0.4 updates on ftp.gwdg.de for 8.0 are broken? Thank you, -Kastus

You can get the updated qt at ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_8.0/ in the base and devel directories. Yes, I've found qt3 packages there, thank you. But, my point is that I updated KDE from the official update tree, and patches/KDE_3_0_4-1 appears to be broken there as it does not reference all dependencies and they are not present in kde6 directory. Anyway, thanks again for your help. Regards, -Kastus

fou4s does not look into supplementary/KDE directories for patches/packages where qt3-3.0.5 and qt3-non-mt-3.0.5 reside. And kde6 directory in the "official" update tree does not contain qt3 packages. Also I checked the file KDE_3_0_4-1 in patches directory. It does not include any update of qt3 packages while lists requirement for "qt3 >= 3.0.5" in kdelibs3 entry. So now it looks like inconsistent and incomplete "official" update of KDE 3.0.4 for 8.0 -Kastus
Hello, I configured my IBM Thinkpad T21 to dual-boot in either Windows 2000 Professional or SuSe Linux 8.0 In Linux, I loaded the Thinkpad configuration files and it works beautifully, although I can't find drivers for my peripherals (Canon FB620P Scanner, HP JetDirect Plus). I don't mind this - but I really need to find a suitable driver for my Linksys WPC11 PCMCIA wireless network card. I'm running standard 802.11b to an Apple Airport with 64-bit WEP encryption. I've loaded the wireless PCMCIA tools that come with the 8.0 distribution, but apparently, I still need a driver for the card. Can anyone help me? Thanks, Dan

Orinoco_cs works with my Linksys WPC11. It's in the kernel, and the latest version is 0.13a (I think) on http://ozlabs.org/people/dgibson/dldwd/ I don't have much experience with wlan-ng, but that driver is specific for the Intersil firmware on the Linksys, D-Link, Netgear, etc. cards, whereas orinoco_cs was originally for Lucent-Agere Orinoco (also Proxim and Dell Truemobile 1150), but it also handles Intersil and Symbol firmware. In Ad-Hoc mode I had some nasty interoperability problems between a Linksys WPC11 and an Orinoco card, and wlan-ng was no better than orinoco_cs in fixing them. Bugs in the Intersil firmware are blamed. James F. Thanks everyone.
My Linksys wireless card is now working perfectly.
Any ideas on finding a driver for my Canon FB620P scanner?
The SANE driver I installed incorrectly configures the gamma tables.

http://www.linux-wlan.com/linux-wlan/ Also, you might want to check through the archives of this mailing list for some gotchas (iwconfig doesn't work .. you need to create a special config file for the device IIRC) sjb
