I am trying to install SuSE 7.2 on a new Gigabyte MB with an Athlon XP. I had problems at boot with installing from the CD, so I used the floppy install instead. I got all the way through the installation or so I thought at the time, when SuSE decided to boot for the first time. A screen was brought up that looked like X, but I guess it was YaST2, but I never got that far to see it. It was frozen at this point. I rebooted and it looks like it boots fine, until I get to a certain point, and I think that YaST2 is trying to recover and I get into that freeze situation again. I can move the mouse around, but all I see is the crosshairs and a black screen. If I try to type anything the crosshair turns green and I am locked up. I have managed once to kill the server with C-A-Backspace, and then I was able to run YaST2 manually. I selected all of the packages I originally had selected to install, installed them, and I still get the same problem, with YaST2 trying to recover. Has anybody experienced this before? I think that the system will run the way it is if I could figure out how to stop YaST2 from recovering. Thanks for any help.
