suse 8 an samba autostart
I have noticed that several people have mentioned that rc.config if no longer used. I used to edit it to set samba to auto start up on boot up. so does anyone know where to look for that setting now. thanks. also i noticed that proftp ftp server was not on the cd's or i maybe I missed it when i was going thrue selecting stuff to install. jack
I believe (i've not tried it for samba) then new format for controlling smb and other daemons is to run insserv smb to set it to start on reboot and run insserv -r smb to stop it from starting on reboot. Ewan On Tue, 2002-04-30 at 02:12, jack malone wrote:

All of the "start" variables are gone from rc.config. Instead, use YaST2 and the runlevel editor to define which services should start in which runlevels. Not sure about proftpd. Best Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MCSE, N+ Got spam? Get spastic http://spastic.sourceforge.net
