[SLE] A question about /etc/conf.modules
Hi there, I noticed that SuSE's /etc/conf.modules is immensely huge compared to Red Hat's /etc/modules.conf (just a couple of lines) Why is that? -- Yatsen Ng yatsenng@casema.net It said "Needs Windows 98 or better." So I installed Linux... -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

I do not know the exact reason but conf.modules were replaced by modules.cnof in 6.3 and in 6.4 they were chopped down to a smaller number of lines. Maybe this version is based on the 2.2.14 kernel Just making a guess -- Togan Muftuoglu toganm@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? So was I. In fact, the conf.modules in the red hat 6.0 we used for a course was almost empty. SuSE gives lots of defaults, even when not realy needed, I'd say. Kinda like that approach more. Mainly because Hubert Mantel went to great pains to comment the file fully, so that it was easier to edit it when it became necessary. Most of the non-comment entries are the defaults and save typing in the future. That's true for _all_ config files that I have edited so far and IMHO that's a huge plus of SuSE over RH...
