Could you give some more details about your setup and at what point exactly the error happened? Sandy -- List replies only please! It is a Sony VAIO RX580 desktop with added components of an NVidia card, a second drive (160G), and an added DVD burner. The error occurs immediately after the beta warning and accepting the agreement. It does a probe of devices, then starts to create a catalog, then times out with the above error. If you or anyone can instruct me about logs to gather/post etc. I'd be happy to do so. Strange. Did you try an Upgrade or a pristine install? Please try to find out if the error was caused by yast not finding the source drive correctly (it seems you have two available cd drives) or if yast can't write to the install drive. I got the install to start (it is going now as I type this). What my change has to do with it installing vs. not installing is a mystery, however it seems to work. The system *was* setup so that the 1st listed boot device was the NEC DVD burner. The CDROM drive was not listed (2nd boot device was the HD). I went into the BIOS and changed the boot device to be the ASUS CDROM drive. I left the install media where it was in the NEC DVD drive and rebooted. My expectation was that it would then boot from the HD since (to my way of thinking) it would try the CDROM drive (nothing in there), skip the NEC DVD burner (since it was not listed in the BIOS boot list), and then go to the HD. Surprise! It booted from the DVD drive. So I started to install SUSE. Before it would ask me what kind of install I wanted and I'd select "New installation". It would then error with the message I showed earlier while trying to create the catalog. This time it worked. Very odd. As I said, this error is new to me. I've installed SUSE 9.3, 10.0, 10.1, SLED10, K/ubuntu (6.10) on the machine w/o incident. Only the 10.2 Beta2 showed this issue (I did not try B1 on it). Oh well, now to go finish the install. - Bruce --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
