After using many different Linux distros to figure out what was hanging the install, I think I found the problem. It appears the problem involves the loading of the Symbios|53c1010-33 driver/module during the install. There are no IDE drives in this server and the installer can't find a device to create a file system.

Hello Linux Gurus, Trying everything to figure what is going wrong and have thus so far. Fedora Core 1 can install or at least loads the correct RAID driver, 53c8xxx (LSI/Symbios), to see the two SCSI drives. For those of you who enjoy nostalgia, this server is a VA-Linux 1220, 1U, with a dual PIII ASUS motherboard. I am *really* looking forward to getting Suse 10 on this beauty, but I am stuck. Is there a problem with the 53c8xxx driver with the 2.6 kernel? Many thanks again. ~James
