While I am going through a hub, it's the exact same port as I've been using for years.

I mention it because I had recalled that I had used a hub with this scanner at one point, though as I mentioned, I honestly don't recall if that's where it was the last time I used it before plugging it back in. But a a troubleshooting step, I'd be inclined to take it anyways - hardware fails, sometimes in unpredictable ways, and the hub may have developed a problem.
