Gnome from ULB and Keyboard
I have installed ulb gnome packages. The installation didn't complain, but it should have. The biggest problem is Keyboard repeat--it doesn't. If I check the box to repeat, it repeats the character once>>ed=eedd. The keyboard works properly in the other window managers and on the tty1-tty6. It even works correctly in GNOME when logged in as root. I suspect a permissions problem, but have exhausted what I can experiment with. Several of the configuration icons in Start-here don't configure anything, or terminate prematurely, most notably Themes and background. Themes gives this error message "The default theme schemas could not be found on your system. This means that you probably don't have metacity installed, or that your gconf is configured incorrectly." I have tried configuring gconf, but nothing I enter seems to stay. Background gives this error message "The Application "gnome-background-properties" has quit unexpectedly. You can inform the developers of what happened to help them fix it. Or you can restart the application right now." Restart does nothing. Trying to inform the developers leads to a screen where I must make a choice of which package is the offender and I am not sure which it is. Any advice of what else to try would be greatly appreciated. Ed Harrison SuSE 9.1, Kernel 2.6.5-17.14-default PolarBar Mailer 1.25a
