Yast music > kernel problems
Hello list I have done a fresh install of SuSE 9.3 on my laptop Intel Centrino Dothan 1.7 Ghz. Intel chipset 855PM - ICH4-m ATI M10 Graphic card The most curious phenomenom was that the sounds could be heard only when yast was on. I could even hear CDs, but as soon as I closed yast I could not hear anything .That's the funny part ; but when I looked at the dmesg output, here is what I saw : .........// ieee80211_crypt: unsupported module, tainting kernel. ieee80211_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL' ieee80211: unsupported module, tainting kernel. ipw2200: unsupported module, tainting kernel. ipw2200: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Network Driver, 1.0.1 ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2004 Intel Corporation Linux Kernel Card Services ........// //........ slamr: unsupported module, tainting kernel. slamr: module license 'Smart Link Ltd.' taints kernel. slamr: SmartLink AMRMO modem. slamr: probe 8086:24c6 ICH4 card... ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:00:1f.6[B] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11 PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:1f.6 to 64 slamr: mc97 codec is SIL27 slamr: slamr0 is ICH4 card. slusb: unsupported module, tainting kernel. //.......... I tried the onlinde updates of the kernel with no results and now I cannot use kde except in root mode. As soon I try to launch an application in user mode it freezes and I must revert to console mode. What should I do Find other modules ? Try a reinstall with ACPI disabled ? Try to compile a kernel without those modules ? Any other ideas and enlightments will be very welcome Paul Ollion
