Hey!
KDE has two bugs in the "most annoying section" which seem to be resolvable.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=675405 has patches upstream.
This should be fixed in our KDE 4.7 packages already.
Sure, but ther are users who rely on official packages+updates. And unless KDE 4.7 is shipped as an official update for 11.4 those people will have a crashing network-management and the above bug.
Fwiw I've updated the link in KDE:UpdatedApps, so users of stable, official 11.4 can get the latest greatest NetworkManager plasmoid.
To be sure this is what one has, which packages should be installed and which not? I have what I expected to be what you describe, but the network manager has not been working correctly for a while. I get messages like this in the pop-up window: "We need Network Manager version between 0.8.1 and 0.8.10, found 0.8.9997" and under each interface it just says: "Error: Invalid state" I am guessing I have some unmatched RPMS. All of KDE is set to be 4.7. This is on openSUSE 11.4. The wlan interface is started, and access points located. Looks like you are using some RC or beta of networkManager 0.9 maybe from tumbleweed and thus you need a plasmoid that works with nm09. It does exist upstream. Not sure whether it was already packaged. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Looks like you are using some RC or beta of networkManager 0.9 maybe from tumbleweed and thus you need a plasmoid that works with nm09. It does exist upstream. Not sure whether it was already packaged.
Hmm. I do not have the tumbleweed repo active. I have 11.4, 11,4 updates, KDE 4.7 and GNOME 3.0. I don't mind removing all the NetworkManager related packages and adding them again. Is it enough to select all the ones with NetworkManager as part of their name? Or are there other RPMs that should be considered? Gnome3 depends on NetworkManager >0.8 - so that's the repo that pulled it on.

For KDE it's plasmoid-networkmanagement and anything you find with networkmanager and KDE in the package's name. In case KUSC already holds KDE 4.8 it might also have the plasmoid- networkmanagement package that fits NM 0.9. Please please. KDE:Distro:Factory already works with NM 0.9. And its maintained for 11.3, 11.4 and Factory. Use it. He wrote he has KDE 4.7 so either he got it from KDF then it does not work or he got it from KR47 and that repo is still not up-to-date and should be removed. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
