[opensuse] patch management for OpenSUSE or SLES?
Hello, does anyone know a software for organizing patches (and possibly software too) for a data center with a lot of server. Before distribute the patches, they should be manually tested on separate machines and approved from a responsible person and than released only to dedicated servers or server groups. We need also an overview about installed patches and packages. I know ZENworks Linux Management, but does anyone know other similar software to do that? Operationsystem is SLES or OpenSuSE, if necessary only SLES is possible. Thanks Meike Sounds like you may be looking for WebYaST, assuming i can guess at understanding what you are looking for. Are you familiar with WebYaST?

Hello Roger
Sounds like you may be looking for WebYaST, assuming i can guess at understanding what you are looking for. Are you familiar with WebYaST?
No, I heard from WebYaST and I rootled for it, but in my opinion is WebYaST a management tool for only one dedicated Server. I need a tool, that give me a overview over all servers in the data center if the are patched well, manage centralized releasing of patches for group of servers if they are approved from application owner, .. Thanks Meike :-) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

http://www.suse.com/products/suse-manager/ might be what you're looking for. Cheers, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany
Hello,
http://www.suse.com/products/suse-manager/ might be what you're looking for.
Thanks for replay, I've looked at this too. It seems very expensive (server 11.200 Euro and per client 80 Euro) So I tried to call SuSE, but had no luck. Waited about 35min in the 0800-line and after this ca. 25 min in the chat for a contact. After this, I called +49 (0)911 740 53 - 0 (central number from imprint) and there, they gave me a number, where a voice box answered. Thats not good .... It would be nice if they open that up like Red Hat did with Satellite, Spacewalk is the open source version. -- Terror PUP a.k.a Chuck "PUP" Payne (678) 636-9678 ----------------------------------------- Discover it! Try to find a SUSE partner close to you. Open http://www.suse.com/ -> Partners -> Partner Locator I hope you find one willing to sell you something. :/
Thats not good ....
I'm sorry, looks to me like you got the wrong number. But I'm not a sales guy as this list isn't either. ;) Cheers, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany
