I was going through my books and such today when I stumbled across a couple of books that were given to me at an old job... Linux (The Complete Edition) and Linux (The Advanced Reference). Unfortunately, they're both targeted at a earlier version of Red Hat, not SuSE. But, when they were printed, they were as current as possible, and matched the OSes that were shipped with the computers we had. What I'm wondering is: Is there a good set of reference books that would be comparable to these for SuSE Linux? (And of course, a more recent version of SuSE... 6.0 manuals won't be as useful as 9.0 manuals.) I know (in theory) a lot of this information is on the web -- but I'll be damned if I can find it anywhere. Or at least not a collection that's anywhere near as complete as what's given here. Hell, within 3 minutes of finding these books, I had an answer as to why I'm having trouble with the "setfont" command -- you can't execute it while xwindows is running. I haven't confirmed that this is my answer, and I probably won't be able to do so until next week... But it's more than I had to work with. So. Reccomendation anyone? Krikket

Two books that come in Professional box is your best bet. Regards, -Kastus

And on the CD/DVD, and are normally installed on your system under help.

http://rute.2038bug.com/rute.html.tar.bz2, it's an excellent text on all aspects of Linux, it's available as a book from the usual sources, see http://www.icon.co.za/~psheer/rute-purchase.html. It's also distribution agnostic and is well worth having around and a must if you are looking to increase your understanding of Linux. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Linux Only Shop.
