STAROFFICE GOES COMMERCIAL, AND STAYS OPEN-SOURCE StarOffice 6.0 will come with enhanced features and added support, but at a price, as Sun aims to attract a wider audience towards the office-productivity software suite. I wonder how many people will actually pay for StarOffice instead of using OpenOffice? IMO, if all of the Linux distros start to include OpenOffice.org, it will probably fare better than StarOffice... That brings me to a question - will SuSE 8.0 be including OpenOffice.org? -Tim -- ---------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy R. You mean openoffice? Yes, that will be on the disks. But don't expect wonders. I've yet to succeed compiling it on my own ... IMNSHO, this package needs *much* more time to get mature. Philipp

Oh, nice job on 8.0! Whilst on the subject of SO, what exactly did SuSE do to the 5.2 version included in the new 8.0. I noticed it isn't just called SO-5.2 like before. BTW...on subsequent starting of the program, it does start pretty quickly, less than 2s compared to the 7s for OpenOffice-638 here on a dual-1G PIII with 1G mem. -- Kemdi IN_SuSE_d Since 5.2 123792 of counter.li.org ICQ:112290572
