Because they don't want to receive any mail from you right now. Actually, it looks like they don't want to receive mail from anyone: ckm@hades: ~> telnet 217.208.35.89 25 Trying 217.208.35.89... telnet: connect to address 217.208.35.89: Connection refused -- -ckm

I sincerely hope that you cant connect to it as it is BEHIND that firewall :) Its my local mail "sender". I have my own domain rikjoh.com. And the log is from the postfix server.... -- /Rikard --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rikard Johnels email : rjhn@linux.nu mob : +46 70 464 99 39 --------------------------Public PGP fingerprint------------------------------ < 15 28 DF 78 67 98 B2 16 1F D3 FD C5 59 D4 B6 78 46 1C EE 56 >

Looks like your firewall is blocking your own connection then, too based you the log snippet you posted. Postfix is trying to send the mail using SMTP and can't talk to 217.208.35.89. First of all, check /etc/aliases, and make sure that you have entries for mailer-daemon and postmaster. It should look something like this: postmaster: root mailer-daemon: postmaster If these exist, then try creating another alias for root, such as this: root: user, \root This should send mail for root to user as well as root. Have you tried sending mail to another user besides root? Did that work? Also, be sure to run newaliases if you change /etc/aliases, since the database will need to be updated. Kevin
Dear All, I've been considering what Linux-based tools I should use to design web pages. Yes, I know about Quanta, but I'd rather not dedicate myself to programming in HTML. I really would like a WYSIWYG tool. And yes, I know that question has been asked before on this list long ago... To answer my own question - StarOffice 5.2 has a very basic WYSIWYG HTML editor. Ditto for Netscape. But these really are basic. So I'm wondering... 1) What about the new StarOffice 6.0? I don't have that yet, and it costs money, but I'm willing to shell out the cash if the HTML tools are any good. Or... 2) I have heard about IBM Websphere Studio Homepage Builder. I found a URL for it: http://www-3.ibm.com/software/webservers/hpbuilder/ It sounds good, but that's IBM's PR talking. Has anybody on this list used it (the Linux version)? Is it any good? Is it really Linux, or Windows software running under Wine? If you know the answers to these any other questions on this topic, I'd be grateful to hear from you. regards, Robert Storey

I have also been looking for a Linux version of Dreamweaver, but I haven't had much luck. I've tried the ones you mentioned, but nowadays I do all my HTML in Kate, an ordinary text editor with syntax highlighting. Quanta is also fine, but it doesn't compile agains Qt3 and the maintainers don't seem to bother to fix the problem. As for the WYSIWYG editors, I've found (surpsingly) Mozilla to be about the best. I tried Websphere too and I don't think it's worth the money and yes, I believe it runs under WINE. But if you have to use WINE, you might as well run WINE + Dreamweaver - version 3 installs fine and version 4 requires some workarounds, but the reports have been pmostly ositive (check http://franksworld.net/wine/) for some directions. Good luck.

Thanks Ladislav (and others who replied), you've given me some good suggestions. I will look into both Mozilla and Dreamweaver+Wine and see how it goes. best regards, Robert Storey

By the way, if you are still interested in WebBuilder, here is an independent review: http://www.linuxlookup.com/html/reviews/software/ibmwebsphere4.0.html Ladislav
