[opensuse] Thunderbird patch caused it to stop working
I'm running OpenSUSE 11.3 and the system issued a security patch for both Firefox and Thunderbird. As a result, Firefox works fine but Thunderbird will no start. From the command line nothing happens, not even any error messages. Using the menu all I get is the bouncing icon and then nothing. Has anyone else installed the security patches today (3/11/11) and noted any problems. I'm currently using kmail which is ok but I don't have access to the mail archive or collected addresses. Thanks for any help Terry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Try failsafe. I had a similar problem months ago, posted here, and the solution. I had to delete several files. I've seen exactly these symptoms when you start Thunderbird and it prompts for the "Security Device" password. The little pop-up window is easily lost behind other windows. Nothing else will happen with Thunderbird until you find the window and supply the password. You should be able to see the entry in the panel. One would think that a password prompt would be forced to the foreground on every virtual desktop, but such is life... I've seen this with several non-suse packages (kicad comes immediately to mind). When I run it from a command line, it usually complains about some missing resource that wasn't included in the rpm dependency list. I've also seen the problem Lew refers to. john perry -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
