Hi: I thought I had the envelope sender problem resolved. It's BACK! That $%#^&%* old ISP name is still out there someplace, and it's come back again. I took the source.net ISP off the linux box, and moved to a new ISP, renonevada.net. Now, when I try to send an email, it's rejected because the envelope sender is again reporting tompoe@source.net, instead of the new ISP, which is tompoe@renonevada.net. I thought I had it eliminated, by updating the DNS, but it's not holding. I just gotta find that file that is being searched for the envelope sender info. It's got to be changed, or I won't be able to use the linuxbox for email. Kmail settings checked, and updated. YaST2 for sendmail set from no sendmail.cf to dialup user [by the way, that setting keeps getting reset to no sendmail.cf for some reason, probably a cron thing, but not related]. DNS settings checked and updated. Can anyone help?
hi tom, why using sendmail et all ?? i always have the setting to the first entry (in yast1) to use smtp. this always worked with modem access too, at least as long as you can tell your email proggy to use an smtp server instead of sendmail. and thus, you only get the sender in the envelope as you specify in the mail proggys config ..... always worked fine for me. greets, chris Am Montag, 3.
