i think i see what my problem was or is
i would also manually run dhcpcd, so i guess that was the cause,
i think i need to do the -R if i manually do it

Are you guys sure you're looking at the right file? It's /etc/resolv.conf, not RESOLVE.CONF or resolve.config.
