I think you must tell shutdown when you want it to shut down. shutdown now Also see the man pages for shutdown If you just want the computer to stop right now, you can use halt in stead of shutdown. Halt does not need any parameters. If you want more help, please post exactly what you have put in /etc/sudoers (just the line for stopping the system) + exactly how you try to stop the system + exactly what the system tells you when you try to stop it. Best regards :o) Johnny :o)

Isn't this "on" by default? Have you altered your system through either the "Security" module, or "/etc/sysconfig" module in YaST2 lately? I have secured one of my systems; to do the same via these in the past. -- Thomas Jones Linux-Howtos Administrator

I have this in /etc/inittab: # what to do when CTRL-ALT-DEL is pressed ca::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/shutdown -h -t 4 now Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del as user now works. (BTW, still on 7.1, if that matters.) SH
