How about a message board instead? A few hoops could be added to make it a bit more difficult for just anyone to access, but this way we'd get the benefit of a newsgroup w/o so much of the crap that goes with one.
You live in the US or have got a dedicated Internet connection right? I live in South Africa, which in common with much of Europe has time-based phone billing, and don't have the bandwidth for browsing a web-based message board. I like the mailing list format. The motivation that started this thread was that the poster didn't want to sift through hundreds of posts to find his answers. I think this is a benefit as I often see posts related to a problem I've had that may not have had a high enough priority for me to have tried to solve it yet. So I just keep it for later. Although I'm pretty much a Linux and SuSE newbie I am sometimes able to answer someone else's question. If we all took a "I want my answer and to hell with the rest" approach, would any of us get the answers we need?
