[SLE] Watching a telnet session
How would I go about watching a telnet session? I would like to watch what others are doing when they telnet into my box. -- Sam Carleton ------------ http://www.bigfoot.com/~scarleton (Homepage) http://www.uptimes.net/hostinfo.html?hid=1218 (Linux Box) -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
Check out the program called sniffit or tcpdump. If you can't find these
check out http://www.freshmeat.net
I don't mean this to sound rude (and this is not directed at you Sam) but I
just answered this question not even 2 hours ago.
I was thinking about starting an "unofficail" SuSE FAQ. It might keep the
traffic alittle lower and not having to post the same answer multiply times,
what do you guys think? Think the SuSE guys would be cool with it, if there
was a disclaimer stating it is not the offical FAQ? Also, say someone posts
a really good answer, could that be stuck in the FAQ without asking them; it
is a public list after all, or would their be some moral and legally way to
go about putting their answer in the FAQ? What about editing their post for
type-o's and spelling errors
I was just going to grab Q&A from the mail list archive and call it a FAQ,
do you guys see any problems with this? I don't want to piss the SuSE (or
Linux) community off by do something that is %100 cool with everyone...
What do you guys think?
Where is the mail list archive anyways? I am not try to be rude or
disrespectfull, I just think an unoffical FAQ could bring nothing but good
to the SuSE Linux community. This isn't directed at Sam, it just made me
think of it. I have been guility of asking the same question 4-5 times
after it has been discussed. The problem is, I see a topic, and it doesn't
look intersting at the time or looks to advanced for my skills at the time.
In 2-3 months, I try to do the same thing, but can remeber what the thread
said 2-3 in the past, I think a FAQ could help with things like this. I
think it could really give the SuSE Linux community another "added value" in
the terms of techinal support for this distro. What do you guys think?
Jack

Jack, I saw your earlier posting, but I did not think it related to what I am trying to do. I do believe that when I was playing with Linux a few years back I learned of a way to "tap into" the terminal someone was using in a telnet session. This was only for telnet net and effectivally gives root the same window that the user has and the ability to take control, if desired. I guess I was wrong. -- Sam Carleton ------------ http://www.bigfoot.com/~scarleton (Homepage) http://www.uptimes.net/hostinfo.html?hid=1218 (Linux Box) -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Heya Jack, Believe it or not, I was thinking the same thing at the beginning of the week. I haven't been a list member for long, but i have been keeping archives of the mails. Now then, If people want, I can set up a FAQ-writing list. Anybody could post suggestions for alterations to the FAQ, but there would be a core of writers who have too much time on their hands =o) What do people think? Please feel free to email me privately if you want, or to the list -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

That's exactly what I was thinking! Have a couple people maintain the FAQ and if there is a spelling error or we forgot to put the question XYZ in or did a bad job at answering question ABC people could post with suggestions and fixes to the errors. I was think after we get the "bulk" of it done, one 1-2 new questions per day (or week) where put it, it would grow at an outstanding rate and cover almost any question someone could have. I was going to start on it this weekend and see if I could get a rough draft out, monday I should have something half way showable. Jack
